Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika met here today with African Union Commission Chairman Jean Ping who is currently visiting Algeria. Algerian Foreign Minister Murad Madlasi also met with Ping. Algerian News Agency (APS) said Ping’s visit, which started yesterday, was aimed to hold consultations on the current situation in Africa especially the crises in Mali and Guinea Bissau as well as dangers threatening each of Sudan and South Sudan. In a statement, Ping said he visits Algeria regularly to hold contacts with major players who help in securing the stability of the situation in the African continent adding that Algeria has been a major party in efforts aimed to restore peace and security in the region.
