National Constituent Assembly (NCA) Speaker Mustapha Ben Jaafar conferred on Wednesday with Houcine Abbassi, Secretary General of the Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT), and Mohamed Hamdi General Co-ordinator of the Democratic Alliance. In a statement to the press, Mr Abbassi said the meeting had allowed to look at the delicate situation Tunisia is living through and means to rally political parties to find a solution to the current crisis. "The meeting also turned on means to revive the UGTT's initiative, notably through removing the obstacles which make it difficult to reach a consensus," Mr Abbassi declared, considering as well the possibility to report this initiative to the NCA. Mohamed Hamdi said for his part that he had discussed with the NCA Speaker the overall situation in the country, notably the effects of the PM's resignation as well as means to form a new cabinet and hold a national dialogue on controversial issues dividing politicians.
