Head of the regional administration in north of Iraq, Masoud Barzani, will rule for two more years. Lawmakers from the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) voted on Sunday to extend Barzani's tenure. The regional leader's election set for September 21, 2013 has been put off. Parliament speaker Arsalan Bayiz's tenure was also extended. Opposition parties Gorran, Yekgirtu and Komal were against the extension of Barzani's tenure and did not vote.
