Bahrain, represented by the Central Informatics and Communications Organisation (CICO), has been chosen as one of two leading countries in the world in the field of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). American world leader in GIS, ESRI, ranked Bahrain and Venezuela atop. CICO-GIS Director Dr. Khalid Abdulrahman Al Hidan said choosing CICO is the result of developing GIS at the local, regional, continental and international level. He added that this choice is also due to the setting up of smart geographic data bases which contributed to upgrading work in the public and private sectors, while taking advantage of regional and international experiences in this regard.
