Two Bahrainis were kept in police custody after their attempt to smuggle into Bahrain 68 kilogrammes of drugs worth more than 400,000 Bahraini Dinars was foiled, the General Director of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science has said.
The smugglers intended to bring the drugs from Iran into the Kingdom via a boat, he added.
Initial details show that two Bahrainis made plans to smuggle drugs into the kingdom, prompting the competent authorities to launch a probe that led to their identification. Their board was located and the two smugglers were arrested after receiving the drugs in the high sea.
The case will be referred to the public prosecution as soon as all legal measures are taken.
