A regional conference under the theme of “Civil Society and the Arab League: Opportunities, Challenges and Influence” will kick off Saturday with the participation of Arab and international delegations as well as civil society organizations working on human rights. The two-day conference, which will be held at the Arab League’s general secretariat, will discuss cooperation and interaction between civil society groups and non-governmental organizations in order to build an Arab mechanism that enhances human rights. Souhayr Belhassen, president of the Paris-based International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH), will participate in the conference along with Raji Sourani, head of the Arab Organization for Human Rights.
