Abu Dhabi - Arab Today

Abu Dhabi University, ADU, has topped the ranks of Quacquarelli Symonds’ (QS) World University Rankings 2018 scoring third place on the International Faculty indicator, thereby surpassing approximately 26,000 universities globally based on the diversity of cultural and ethnic backgrounds of its faculty members.

This makes Abu Dhabi University one of the top 2.8 per cent universities in the world.

The ranking marks ADU’s second international achievement in 2017 after being ranking in Quacquarelli Symonds’ Top 150 under 50.

Addressing the achievement, Ali Saeed bin Harmal Al Dhaheri, Chairman of ADU’s Executive Board, said, "ADU’s continuing success in earning national and international recognition for quality education and applied research is the result of its dedication to excellence which has always been a focal point of the University’s strategy. These accomplishments also reflect the vision of our wise leadership represented by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, as well as Supreme Council Members, Their Highnesses, Rulers of the Emirates, for the UAE’s institutions to lead global competitiveness indicators in all fields."

He added, "Our efforts also align with the ambition of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region and President of ADU’s Board of Regents, to establish the university as a pioneering higher education institution that sets new standards of excellence in quality teaching, cutting-edge scientific research and community service."

In closing, Bin Harmal said, "In its quest to create a unique and culturally diverse educational environment that promotes excellence and creativity, ADU spares no effort in attracting highly qualified world-renowned faculty from leading universities and research centers across the globe."

QS World University Rankings is an annual publication by Quacquarelli Symonds. It is the only international ranking to have received International Ranking Expert Group, IREG, approval and is viewed as one of the most widely read of its kind.
