Chairperson of Women's Affairs Committee at the Kuwaiti Cabinet Sheikha Latifa Al-Fahad Al-Salem Al-Sabah said that Kuwaiti government is eager to empower women and enhance their contribution to society development.
In a press statement issued Monday, Women's Affairs Committee said that these remarks of Sheikha Latifa came during her participation in Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC)'s Fifth Ministerial Conference on the Role of Women in Development held in Baku.
Sheikha Latifa also noted that Kuwaiti development policy is based on gender equality and considers women effective partners to men in the building and developing the state.
She added that Kuwait is keen on eliminating discrimination and violence against women.
Sheikha Latifa has headed Kuwaiti delegation to the OIC meeting, Oct 19-20, and delivered Kuwait's speech.
