Tau: Kaizer Chiefs can win the PSL title

The Amakhosi will have to start scoring regularly if they are to stand any chance of lifting the league trophy.Kaizer Chiefs are six points behind the log leaders with eight matches left in the South African Premier Soccer League (PSL).Despite the distance between the Amakhosi and Mamelodi Sundowns in top spot, Jimmy Tau believes that they can lift the Premiership title."We can still win the title depending on how we fare and how other teams do as well," he said. "At this moment we can only be optimistic and hope for better fortunes."Following their 4-0 thumping of Black Leopards in the Nedbank Cup, Amakhosi fell 1-0 to the Lidoda Duvha four days later in a League match."It was one game where we went through a lot of emotions in terms of trying to lift the team considering that we won the cup match," Tau said."We did not underestimate them. It did not even cross our minds because the coach was continuously reminding us not to be complacent in the game"And I don't think it was a matter of complacency, we simply did not play at our best level and we conceded a silly goal in the late stages of the game."Chiefs have certainly struggled to find the back of the net in the league this season, only managing 25 goals in 22 PSL appearances, the fifth poorest goal scoring record in the league.Tau admits it is exasperating, especially after creating so many chances, but instead of reflecting on the negatives he looks forward."It is frustrating, but at the same time you need to look at the positives, the fact that we are creating those chances and we are getting into goal scoring positions is a plus for us," he said."And I think missing goals is just an inadvertent occurrence of missing chances – it is not intentional, so you can't really fault the guys and their efforts because given enough time they will better their trade when it comes to scoring goals."Time, unfortunately, is not on Chiefs' side, and they will have to start scoring regularly if they are to stand any chance of lifting the Premiership trophy.
