Sir Alex Ferguson says there are no plans to send Antonio Valencia for an ankle operation, contrary to press reports. Stories in Friday's newspapers that the Ecuadorian has a problem needing attention, albeit at the end of the season, may have concerned supporters given the winger's recent contribution to United's surge into first place. However, Valencia's manager dismissed the reports at his pre-match press conference. "I don't know where that story on his ankle has come from," said Sir Alex. "[An operation] has never been on the agenda or been discussed. He has a [metal] plate there but at the moment it stays there. "Antonio's form has been unbelievable. When you get players hitting form, their best form, at this time of year, it's a bonus."
