Leonardo: France is a little bit against PSG

The PSG official says that his side do not enjoy much support in the country and insists that criticism targeted at the club lacks foundation.Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo has said that the majority of the French football fans do not want his club to win Ligue 1.The capital club are currently trailing leaders Montpellier by three points, and Leonardo believes that his side are not the nation's favourite side."I think it is normal that people want Montpellier to win," he told RMC. "They are something new for everyone."It is a little bit like Quevilly; everyone wants to see them win the Coupe de France."So yes, France is a bit against us. But that is normal, I understand."Leonardo then stated that criticism targeted at PSG is unfair and reminded supporters that the club are still in the race for the league title."I am not here to say that we are perfect," he noted. "We played well against Nancy and we did not deserve to lose that game [2-1]."Before that, we had some tough moments. But the criticism is normal."As I have said before, there is a certain contradiction because after our bad start, we are fighting for the title."The PSG official then admitted that star player Javier Pastore has been far away from his best, saying: "He is paying for being the most expensive transfer in France."He is also paying for the hard moment that we went through. And if we look at those who have suffered the most with this delicate period, we are talking about two 22-year-old players."I am talking about Pastore and Mamadou Sakho. Both of them have plenty of time to adapt to this transformation."PSG will tackle Auxerre on Sunday in their upcoming Ligue 1 match.
