Liverpool - Arabstoday

Liverpool travel to Norwich this weekend with Kenny Dalglish admitting that the last meeting between the sides summed up the club's Barclays Premier League fortunes this term. The Reds dominated October's home game and led through a Craig Bellamy strike - but were held to a draw after Grant Holt's second-half goal. "It was a mirror image of most of the games we've played there," said Dalglish. "We had many opportunities and either the goalkeeper made a magnificent save or we hit the bar and the post. We had plenty of chances." Despite enduring frustration at their hands, Dalglish is a fan of the expansive football deployed by Paul Lambert. The Carrow Road boss spent most of his playing career in Scotland but did enjoy a spell with Borussia Dortmund in the mid-Nineties, where he became the first British player to win the Champions League since its 1992 inception. Dalglish said: "They play the way Paul Lambert has been brought up, through his career in Scotland and obviously in Germany. "He's got his principles and beliefs from the places he's been, and it's a wee bit ironic that he got the job on the back of beating them 7-1 at Carrow Road. "He's done a fantastic job. "They've done fantastic in the Premier League, and they got back-to-back promotions to get there. "Paul spent very wisely in the summer and got a lot of decent players in." Asked whether the fact Norwich played attractive football - rather than sitting deep - was a help to his own side, Dalglish added: "Anybody who is good at what they do doesn't help us." Liverpool have two league fixtures - Norwich and Fulham - before next weekend's FA Cup final against Chelsea. Dalglish does not believe the Wembley showpiece will distract his team. "We'll concentrate on every game we've got before then and try our best to get what we can from them," he said. "Nobody's happy with the (league) results but we've not been too disappointed with the performances." Meanwhile, the boss was asked whether he'd watched this week's Champions League semi-finals, from which Chelsea and Bayern Munich progressed. "It's always good to watch football on the telly," he said. "It's a fantastic result for Chelsea and a great performances over the two legs, and the other semi-final was a wee bit dramatic as well."
