The former Ahly midfielder confirmed on Thursday being in advanced talks with Zamalek and added the deal could be officially announced next week. "The negotiations started with Zamalek’s former coach Hossam Hassan and are on the right track, especially after the appointment of Hassan Shehata as the team’s new coach," Egypt’s skipper told Ahram online. The veteran midfielder has a special relation with Shehata, who managed the Pharaohs over the past seven years. The former Besiktas and Anderlecht star who joined the Red Devils in the summer of 2008 was dropped from the team’s squad last Monday after helping the club to three Egyptian League tiles and the CAF Champions League trophy in 2008. The best player in the 2006 and 2010 African Cup of Nations confirmed his good relationship with Ahly and added he was shocked by Ahly coach Manuel Jose’s position. ’’I am so disappointed by (Manuel Jose) Da Silva's declarations concerning my exclusion. First he explained his decision as a reaction to my negotiations with Zamalek officials’ before saying that he took the decision two months ago.’’ Ahly’s Portuguese coach Manuel Jose Da Silva decided to offload the 36-year-old player due to his age, seeing that he wants to rebuild the team, and revealed that his decision dated back to two months.
