It's one of the oldest cliches in the book, but Rio Ferdinand insists Manchester United are taking things one game at a time in the title race. Three points against Everton at Old Trafford on Sunday would mean the Reds could be confirmed as champions with victory at the Etihad Stadium in the Manchester derby on Monday 30 April, a scenario that seems almost too good to be true for United supporters. But while fans would love nothing more than to win the league in City's backyard, Ferdinand says nobody in Sir Alex's squad is thinking like that. "The key thing is that we have to win against Everton in order to even give ourselves that chance," Rio told matchday programme United Review. "All we’re thinking about at the moment is that game, not what we can or can’t do next weekend or the weekend after that. And Everton always give us a tough game so we need to make sure we do the job properly." Everton come to Old Trafford on the back of an FA Cup semi-final defeat against neighbours Liverpool, a result that stung David Moyes' men. It was only the Toffees' first loss in six games, though, ending a run that's yielded just three goals against them. "They've looked really good recently," Ferdinand said. "Nikica Jelavic has come in and grabbed a few goals - he looks handy - and they're the sort of side who give their all for the manager. "They're desperate to finish above Liverpool in the league this season, especially after losing to them last weekend. They’re coming here with plenty to play for."
