London - Arabstoday

As a rollercoaster season draws towards the most exciting of climaxes, Didier Drogba believes it could be the club's best ever. The Ivorian once again turned in an extraordinarily committed display against Barcelona, acting as a makeshift defender as the home side put us under intense pressure in last night's Champions League semi-final second leg, dedication that paid off with a place in next month's Munich final. Having been on the verge of European elimination after the first leg against Napoli in February, which came off the back of a home FA Cup draw with Birmingham City, we now find ourselves with two finals to look forward to in May. 'Everybody says it is a difficult season but we are in the FA Cup final and the Champions League final now and I think everybody would love to be in our situation in two very big finals,' Drogba said following last night's stunning 2-2 draw at the Camp Nou. At one stage we were 2-0 down on the night, 2-1 on aggregate, and down to 10 men following John Terry's dismissal and Gary Cahill's withdrawal through injury. We also lost Raul Meireles, Branislav Ivanovic and Ramires to suspension, as they picked up yellow cards that will keep them out of the final. 'This is the kind of night you don't want, but it's part of the game and we are very sad for John. I think Gary will recover so he will be with us, but the others are suspended for the final,' Drogba said. 'We are very happy because we qualified but we keep our feet on the ground because some of our best players are not going to be there for the final - so the final will be difficult but we are going to try to do it for them.' Drogba added he felt the evening would live long in the memory. 'I think it's going to be one of the best nights I had in my career. I hope there is more to come,' he smiled. 'It's a great night for the Chelsea fans, they came here and we are happy for them. I can still hear them singing. 'We have to be proud. We have done it in the past. It was a good game and we always manage to score. It's one of the best results against one of the best teams in the world. Nobody expected us to be there. 'In football the most important thing is to win the game. You don't win the game with possession. Of course we defended but we scored goals as well and I think we deserved to qualify.'
