Two people were killed and at least 10 wounded when insurgents hurled a grenade into a hotel in Somalia's capital Mogadishu, witnesses said, one a string of attacks carried out on Friday. "There was a loud explosion, people were wounded, two people were killed," said Ahmed Yasin Ibrahim, who was near the Barwaqo hotel in central Mogadishu when the grenade exploded late Friday. Mohamed Daud, another witness nearby, confirmed that two people had been killed, adding that he had seen "several wounded, more than 10 with injuries carried away". Earlier on Friday, a suicide bomber rammed a car laden with explosives into a convoy of African Union troops in Mogadishu, killed at least three civilians, but no AU soldiers. No one has claimed responsibility for the attacks, but Al-Qaeda-linked Shebab insurgents have carried out a series of bombings, attacks and killings aimed to overthrow the internationally-backed government. Shebab spokesman Abdulaziz Abu Musab did not claim the attacks, although he said that fighters had set off an bomb beneath a fuel tanker belonging to the AU force in the town of Afgoye, northwest of Mogadishu. The claims could not be immediately confirmed.
