Thousands of Palestinians on Saturday marched in the funeral of three men killed in an Israeli raid at dawn on the Jenin refugee camp north of the occupied West Bank. The latest killings drew swift condemnation from the Palestinian Authority, which urged U.S. intervention to prevent peace talks from collapse. The funeral began from a hospital in the city of Jenin and proceeded to the adjacent camp, where they were laid to rest. The mourners chanted slogans calling for national unity and ending internal Palestinian divisions “in order to stand up to continuing Israeli aggressions.”During the early morning raid, an Israeli army special unit encircled a house and opened fire, killing the three, including two aged 23, and wounding 15 other Palestinians, three of them seriously. Troops also arrested a number of Palestinians before they withdrew.Nabi Abu Rdeineh, an adviser to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, denounced the killings as “an escalation” and held Israel responsible. He called on Washington, which is brokering Palestinian-Israeli peace talks, to act promptly “to stop the collapse of everything.
