The cases of deposed President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, his wife Leila Ben Ali, his nephew Kais Ben Ali and other defendants involved in the affair of Ouardanin were referred by the investigating judge of Sousse's Court of First Instance to the Pre-trial Chamber coming under the Court of Appeal of Sousse. They are accused of "plotting against internal security, inciting people to engaging in armed violence against each other or causing disorder, murder and looting in the Tunisian territory, judicial sources told Tunis Afrique Presse News Agency (TAP ). Incidents of Ouardanin caused the death of several martyrs and injury of others during the night between January 15 and 16, 2011 and 14 security officers were charged. Families of the martyrs underscored in the petition they had sent to judicial authorities after these incidents that some security officers had tried during that night to help Kais Ben Ali escape. Residents of Ouardanin were surprised by heavy gunshots which caused the death of four young people and injured several others.
