Washington - Arab Today

The US Senate considers imposing new sanctions on Iran in December, according to the US Senate's democratic leader Harry Reid.
Sen. Harry Reid said the Senate will discuss in December a new package of economic sanctions against Iran, while negotiations continue in Geneva on Tehran's nuclear program.

He said that he supports these negotiations and hops they will be successful, adding the Senate must be ready to discuss Iran new sanctions bill after the Thanksgiving holiday.

U.S. President Barack Obama had called on the Congress, on 14 November, to allow an opportunity for Iran to demonstrate its seriousness in regard to its nuclear program, adding that there is no need to impose additional sanctions on Iran when the United States is serious about moving the diplomacy.

Iran's top nuclear negotiator Abbas Araqchi, after a series of Geneva talks, ruled out that Iran and the major powers to reach an agreement, this evening, on Iran's nuclear program.

Araqchi, following the second meeting between Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and EU Foreign Affairs chief Catherine Ashton, dismissed that the negotiations to reach a final result today and anything about tomorrow can't be anticipated.
