Mumbai - Arabstoday

Latest reports indicate that a series of powerful bomb explosions have rocked various parts of the Indian port city of Mumbai. Police say three simultaneous explosions happened at crowded locations in south and central Mumbai. Local media reports and eyewitness accounts say at least 10 people have been killed and 200 others injured. India's home ministry has confirmed it as a terrorist attack and put the city on high alert. The death toll is expected to rise as some of the injured are said to be in critical condition. Meanwhile, an investigation team has rushed to Mumbai from the capital New Delhi to investigate and collect forensic evidence. A number of Indian cities have been hit by serial blasts and terror attacks in recent years. At least 166 people were killed in Mumbai on November 26, 2008 after 10 militants attacked luxury hotels and several key locations across the city.
