The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, MoCCaE, has added US-made Kikkoman soy sauce to its Japanese counterpart ban for residual alcohol content.
The ministry also banned the circulation of the product in the UAE's markets in accordance with Ministerial Resolution No. 539 of 2012 on the standard guide to procedures for the prohibition of handling and the banning of food-stuff.
The decision is based on test results conducted by specialised accredited laboratories, which confirmed that several samples of the product, with different production dates, violate the rules.
MoCCaE is following up with local authorities, such as the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority, and municipalities across the Emirates, to ensure prompt implementation of the withdrawal of the product from UAE markets.
