The stability of Lebanon is top priority," stressed France's President Emmanuel Macron in a cable he sent to President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun this Thursday, whereby he congratulated him on Lebanon's Independence Day.
"The international community is keen on Lebanon's unity, sovereignty and independence, along with its State's institutions' proper work," he said.
The French president expressed his commitment to "the need to put into effect the decisions taken during the state visit by President Michel Aoun to France, thus contributing to the strengthening of Lebanese institutions, especially those working in the security field."
"Therefore, France will remain firmly committed, within the UNIFIL forces, as well as in various aspects of cooperation with institutions charged with maintaining security in the country," Macron said.
"Amidst the difficult circumstances that Lebanon is currently going through, we stressing the total adherence of the international community to the unity, sovereignty and stability of your country," the telegram read.
"Our two countries are linked by an old friendship, strong and deep, and I am willing to be active in strengthening it. France will remain alongside Lebanon, the model of democracy, freedom and tolerance in the Near and Middle East, proud of its uniqueness which must be preserved," Macron added
