FNC discusses co-operation with EU-UAE Parliamentary Friendship Group
Abu Dhabi - Arab Today

Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of Federal National Council, FNC, and Antonio Lopez-Isturiz White, President of the EU-UAE Parliamentary Friendship Group at the European Parliament, along with his accompanying delegation, today held an official discussion at the headquarters of the FNC in Abu Dhabi.

They reviewed means of consolidating and developing bilateral relations in the areas of politics, parliaments, the economy, investments and trade.

They also discussed overall mutual co-operation between both sides, especially in future foresight and innovation, and agreed on the necessity of unifying their efforts and stances with regards to their mutual interests, especially in combatting terrorism and extremism and consolidating regional and international security, stability and peace, reflecting the established relations between the UAE and European Union countries, which are based on common values and interests.

Both sides praised the exceptional role of the FNC and the European Parliament in conducting parliamentary diplomacy, as well as in supporting UAE-EU relations on official and parliamentary levels, as well as establishing solid diplomatic ties and joint co-operation between the UAE and the European Union to combine their goals of preserving international peace and security, along with regional and international stability.

Those at the session discussed the UAE’s vision and its comprehensive civilised progress, especially in civil aviation, the environment, transportation and tourism, and its position on many strategic issues, such as the Iranian Nuclear Programme and crises in the Arab region, in Yemen, Syria, Libya and Iraq, as well as the country's regional role, peaceful approach, humanitarian assistance, and its support for refugees and displaced people around the world.

They also discussed the UAE’s efforts to promote tolerance and co-existence, empower its youth and women, and adopt artificial intelligence and advanced technologies.

Both sides stressed the necessity of finding peaceful solutions to regional and international conflicts and crises, while respecting the principle of good neighbourliness and not interfering in the internal affairs of other countries. They also praised the UAE’s approach and its desire to promote peace and security around the world, especially in the Middle East, which has many regional conflicts.

Both delegations condemned acts of terrorism, regardless of their motives and justifications, while highlighting the necessity of a global commitment to apply international decisions on combatting terrorist organisations, which seriously threaten international peace and security
