Cairo - Akram Ali

Protestors held a sit-in demonstration in Tahrir Square on Sunday, after Prime Minister Dr Essam Sharaf declared his package of reforms on Saturday. The protestors called for open demonstrations without the disruption of traffic in the square. One of the protesters told "Arabs Today": "We will remain in the square until our demands are answered. We have decided to stand away from traffic so that no one can say we are preventing people from working.  Also, many us walked away from the Mogamma building to allow employees and citizens to enter it.” He confirmed that he would not leave the square unless the requests of the revolution were realistically executed, stressing that he would not be satisfied with mere promises. Protesters also called for the holding of demonstrations throughout the week and not just on Friday, in order to put more pressure on the government, and the military council to implement the demands of the revolution of the 25th January. The protestors have shown their ability to rally the masses by organizing another million-strong demonstration next Friday.  This is because of the disappointment they feel towards Essam Sharaf, who has not made any real decisions, but made promises just like the ones that characterized the former regime. A large number of movements and coalitions called for the organization of a million-strong demonstration on Tuesday and Friday, in coordination with numerous political forces, as a means of escalating the current situation in order to achieve the demands made, without disrupting work.
