Prime Minister Dr. Rami al-Hamdallah, on Tuesday met with the Chinese Vice-President Wang Qishan and his entourage at his office in Ramallah, in a meeting which was attended by a number of ministers and members of the Executive Committees of the PLO and the Central Committee of Fatah.
On behalf of President Mahmoud Abbas, the government and the Palestinian people, Hamdallah welcomed the Qishan and the accompanying delegation. He stressed the depth of historical and distinguished relations between the Peoples of Republic of China and Palestine and the extent of joint cooperation between the two countries on political and economic levels.
The Prime Minister briefed the Qishan on the latest political developments and the violations of the occupation against the Palestinian people, especially the continuation of the settlement activity that separates the northern West Bank from its south, Jerusalem from its surroundings, and the Israeli steps in eliminating the peace process and the two-state solution. The United States Administration in Jerusalem, the capital of Israel and the transfer of its embassy to it, and its attempts to resolve the refugee issue, in particular the cessation of its support for UNRWA, the closure of the Office of the United States Liberation Organization, and briefed him on the efforts of the leadership and government to achieve national reconciliation.
Hamadullah called on China to play an active role in the political process as a permanent member of the Security Council, to support President Abbas’s peace initiative and to hold an international peace conference in which China will be a key sponsor. He called on China to pressure Israel to stop its violations, International.
Hamdallah thanked China’s continuous support for the Palestinian issue and the two-state solution, and support in international forums and its efforts to push the peace process forward and launch negotiations in a manner that guarantees Palestinian rights. He praised the continuous support in many economic fields, especially the training of government cadres and the security establishment, scholarships and the provision of schools with renewable energy and weeding stadiums and infrastructure projects, in addition to its contribution to the establishment of industrial cities and support of UNRWA, calling in this context to convene the Economic Committee Which will be held every two years instead of being held every two years to enhance cooperation between the two countries.
For his part, the Chinese vice president stressed China’s leadership, government and people on the side of the just Palestinian cause and its support for the two-state solution and the rights of our people, adding that the Palestinian issue is the core issue in the Middle East and the world.
After the meeting, the two sides signed two memorandums of understanding, the first between the Chinese Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of National Economy on launching the FTA negotiations between China and Palestine. And the second on China’s approval to provide a batch of artificial grass slabs to cultivate Palestinian playgrounds, which will be allocated from the Chinese grant account stipulated in the economic and technical cooperation agreement signed between the Chinese and Palestinian governments on 13/11/2015.
