Baghdad – Jaafar Nassrawi

Iraq's Iraqiya bloc, led by Iyad Allawi, has requested the Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki's government to resign due to its failure to stop violence sweeping the country. Maysoon Al-Damluji, the Iraqiya bloc’s spokesperson said in a statement issued on Thursday that Maliki and his government were responsible for restoring security in Iraq. The statement added that the government should resign due to its failure to mitigate the situation. Iraq has been plagued by attacks in recent months. Recently, a rapid succession of attacks that spread over a swath of Iraqi territories killed at least 50 people on Thursday.
