Iraqi forces controlled “vital targets” in Zanjili district in north of Old City district in Mosul city, the commander of the Iraqi Federal Police Raed Shaker Jawdat said on Sunday.
In a statement, Jawdat noted that the Iraqi forces with its armored vehicles advanced 300 meters inside the neighborhood.
The forces controlled a number of positions and media centers affiliated to Daesh terrorists group, he added.
The Iraqi artillery is still targeting the terrorist group's defenses north of the Old City, he further said.
