Iraq’ Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki said Saturday that at least four Iraqi army officials could be involved in the recent Baghdad bombings that left over 270 casualties. Baghdad was rocked by a series of bombings on Thursday including IEDs and car bombings that killed over 70 people and injured 200 more people that was described as the bloodiest attack in Iraq the last quarter of 2011 and the first major attack after the US withdrawal from the country. Maliki was speaking in a meeting with tribal leaders in Salahaddin province where the provincial council is making effort to create s federal region in the province. “National security is threatened. The recent bombings in Baghdad were carried out with the participation of 4 Iraqi army officers.” Maliki told the meeting. The PM said there were external agendas behind the attacks.
