Ghaza - Kamal al-Yazji

The leadership of the Fatah movement announced on Tuesday, that Mohammad Dahlan intends to return to Ramallah in the West Bank next Friday, to follow up the decision to dismiss him from the movement. Dahlan said in a radio interview for the network CNN that he is ready to account for the assets and legal institutions of the movement, emphasizing that he will return on Friday for a follow-up court session, which is expected to be held on the 24th of July, to consider the invitation to challenge and appeal the decision to expel him from his membership in the Central Committee of Fatah. The Central Committee of Fatah has taken the decision, at the behest of President Mahmoud Abbas, to dismiss Dahlan, after differences between the two Palestinian factions arose when the President accused Dahlan and his children of corruption. Dahlan stressed that the current phase is “very sensitive” in light of the political dues, and stated that the issue of his return to the Central Committee does not constitute a basis to go to court to resolve any dispute in accordance with regulations. He denied any intentions to create diversions, or factions within the Fatah movement, stating that he as committed as any other Fatah member in the movement.
