Algiers - Qna

Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika on Thursday signed a decree on the organization of the central Anti-corruption Agency. This agency is in charge of investigating crimes related to corruption, and will be backed up by judicial police officers. A statement issued by the President Office indicates that the decree, signed one day before the International Anti-Corruption Day, would constitute "a new brick" in the process of establishing and reinforcing anti-corruption mechanism to fight against all forms of offenses to the nation''s wealth. This process has already led to the review of several other laws, including the law related to currency and credit, the law on capital movements and money transfers, the law related to the Accounting Council, and the anti- corruption law.
