A sequel to 2009’s forgettable GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra, this picks up where the original left off, with the bad guys having sneakily taken over the American presidency using a doppelgänger who will carry out their plan of world domination (or something of the sort – it’s not that interesting). Early on, most of the original GI Joes are wiped out, leaving Roadblock (Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson), the obligatory female eye-candy (Adrianne Palicki) and the hunky Flint (DJ Cotrona) to save the day with the help of the original Joe (Bruce Willis). Despite the films being based on Hasbro’s army toys, this isn’t aimed at kids – it is devoid of any fun and packed with violence. And any hint of amusement or wit is quickly glossed over in favour of action sequences, clunky dialogue and forgettable 3-D.
