The Lebanese singer Nagham Beirut - Souhayla Kayali The Lebanese singer Nagham said she has always loved singing and has wanted to be a singer since she was a child. Nagham added that her friends and family played a big role in encouraging her to develop her talent. The young singer asserted she wants to perform unique and beautiful songs, and hopes the future will be good to her. In an interview with Arabstoday, Nagham talks about her career, hopes and personal life... Arabstoday: Some people have commented that you look similar to the TV Presenter Mona Abu Hamza? Yes, many people say that, others say I look like the French actress Brigitte Bardot... I'm happy about this, they are comparing me to really stunning women!! Arabstoday: Some new female singers depend on their looks to achieve quick fame, what is your opinion about that? I'm not totally against, but also I don't totally agree. It is good for a female singer to be attractive, but going too far is not preferable. Arabstoday: There are so many female singers emerging every year in the Arab region. What do you think makes you stand out? What makes me stand out is that I have gained people's affection, and I promise I will make songs that are worthy of this. Arabstoday: How did you meet your manager Shady Ayash? I met with him just by chance, then we had a meeting in his office where he listened to my voice and signed me. Shady has a good reputation as a manager and that is what encouraged me to work with him. Arabstoday: And how are things going between you? Everything is great! Arabstoday: Is the fact that Shady is brother to the acclaimed singer Ramy Ayash, one of the reasons you might produce a duet with him? Yes indeed, there is nothing in the pipeline between us at the moment, but I hope this will happen soon. Arabstoday: Or perhaps you prefer to perform a duet with someone else? No, Ramy would be my favourite partner to sing a duet with. I just love his voice and hope I can work with him. Arabstoday: You chose to look innocent and kid-like in your first video clip, will you keep this style? Actually it was not planned, it was just me. I like the way I looked in my first video, perhaps my face has an innocent quality with a little maturity. Arabstoday: Some children have participated in this video clip. Do you plan to release some songs for children? Of course, I would be happy to do this. Arabstoday: Would you consider work as an actress or presenting TV shows? No, at least not in the near future, as I want to be dedicated in my career as a singer, but if an important project that can deeply touch the viewers is offered to mem I think I would accept it on an exceptional basis. Arabstoday: How do you assess the singing field now? There is a lot of great talent that totally deserve stardom, but there are also others whom I prefer not to mention and let the audience assess. Arabstoday: What is your opinion about plastic surgery for female artists? I'm not against it. If anybody suffers some imperfections, why wouldn't he or she rectify them? Arabstoday: Have you done anything? I know many will not believe this but I have not! Arabstoday: Perhaps you may do in the future? Yes it is possible, everybody ages, and there is nothing wrong to keep up a good appearance. Arabstoday: What about your personal life? I'm single now, but I'm romantic by instinct. Now I'm dedicated to my work, as I believe that love comes without plans. Arabstoday: Who is your model singer? I love too many singers, but I will pick Zekra as a model. Arabstoday: How do you keep in touch with your fans? I'm yet to do that, but soon I will have Twitter, Facebook and Youtube accounts.Arabstoday: You began your career with a single song rather than an album, did this work to your favour? I'm still in the first stages as a professional singer, so I have to be cautious, but it is better for me to make a single successful song rather than an unsuccessful album. Arabstoday: What about your future projects? I'm searching for a Lebanese song as my first song was in the Egyptian dialect and I hope to sing in a Gulf dialect in the future too.
