Layal Aboud Beirut - Suleiman Asfhani Lebanese singer Layal Aboud told ‘Arabstoday’ that she “suffered greatly” from the rumors that have been spread about her, saying that every new successful song she launches attracts more rumors and problems. She claimed that some paid writers appear to bear a grudge against her for no reason. “While preparing for any new song, I used to feel that there are those waiting to fight me. I was right every time. I discovered that there are those who push some writers to harm me and undermine me and my success. Now however I have learned to deal with it with calm, although some rumors provoke me, so I continue on my path and continue to earn the confidence of the audience, which is an extraordinary and priceless blessing,” Layal said. She also said that some of the rumors she faced went as far as slandering her relationship with her family. “Some said that I am in disagreement with my family, and this is untrue. Maybe they ran out of rumors so they started talking about my family. And I’m warning everyone against meddling with this issue, or else I would have to sue the slanderers,” she explained. On her most recent song ‘Ma Baeish’ (I Can’t Live), Aboud said “the song gained popularity despite being a slow classic romantic, which means that the rhythm alone is not the reason behind a singer’s success. There are many different styles of songs that could reach out to people despite being different than the norm, and I am proud to have contributed to the return of romance in the music scene, which is an achievement I have made with a number of songs.” Layal turned down a number of ideas for video clips, noting that some of them include scenes that contradict with her convictions and the bridges of communication that link her to her audience. “A series of ideas for videos were presented to me, but I saw them taking me where I don’t want to go, so I turned them down and preferred to do what I see fitting and what adds to my career,” Layal added. Layal Aboud revealed a scoop to ‘Arabstoday’, saying that she is about to venture into acting. She further stated “I am currently studying more than one film and TV script, from Lebanon as well as from abroad, particularly Egypt and UAE. I’m taking a new step, no doubt, but it means a lot to me, and it would express a significant talent besides singing. I’m willing to take this step as soon as I find the script which meets my ambitions and does not harm my career as a singer, because I will not sacrifice my fame for dim experiences.”
