Handwashing is among the most effective measures against spreading illness, but a U.S. paper company reminds that towels are important too. A University of Westminster study found using paper towels can reduce bacteria on finger pads by up to 76 percent and on palms by up to 77 percent. Touchless dispensing options can be even more helpful in reducing the risk of cross-contamination, said Alex Volpe, vice president and general manager for Georgia-Pacific Professional's towel business. The company is a provider of hygienic dispensing systems, towels, tissues, soaps and air fresheners. In a statement, Volpe touted his company's touchless enMotion dispensers "have improved washroom and food service experiences by providing product solutions that help businesses reduce costs, improve hygiene and contribute to environmental sustainability."
