Syrian refugees battle cancer in exile
Amman - Petra

Jordan and Saudi Arabia on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding worth $40,000 for treatment of a number of Syrian refugee cancer patients in Jordan.
The agreement was signed by HRH Princess Dina Mired, General Director of King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF), and the Vice Chairman and Managing Director of the Saudi Fund for Development, Yousef bin Ibrahim Al-Bassam.
This grant came as part of the Saudi government's contribution to support those Syrian refugees in host countries who are suffering from some disease and are badly in need of medical treatment and necessary health care, the KHCF statement said.
This donation will be directed to the King Hussein Cancer Foundation’s Syrian Goodwill Fund, the statement revealed.
The statement explained that the Syrian Goodwill Fund provides limited financial assistance to underprivileged cancer patients who are not covered by medical insurance and are unable to pay for lengthy and costly cancer treatment.
HRH Princess Dina Mired thanked the fund for its great support and humanitarian efforts.
"On behalf of the many Syrian patients and their families who would be able to continue their treatment at the KHCC, thanks to this donation, we thank the Saudis as they are a living proof and an inspirational example of how we can all make a difference in the fight against cancer and can support underprivileged patients," the Princess said.
