Riyadh - Arabstoday

SRMG Chairman Prince Faisal bin Salman, who is also the chairman of Executive Committee of Insaan, Charitable Society for Orphan's Care, thanked Health Minister Abdullah Al-Rabeeah for the continuous support of his ministry in implementing health care programs. In a letter Prince Faisal thanked the health minister for his commitment to serve the orphans in the Kingdom through its health care and health education programs. A group of children from Insaan called on the minister recently to thank him for his services toward patient care. The children presented a memento to Al-Rabeeah in appreciation of his services toward Insaan. Thanking the prince for the appreciation letter, Al-Rabeeah noted that serving orphans is a duty of all human beings according to Islamic teachings and it is in conformity with the vision of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah and Crown Prince Naif, deputy premier and minister of interior. “We are ready to cooperate with charitable organizations in the Kingdom, dedicated to serving the orphans, who are the children of the soil,” the minister said, adding that through such efforts the ministry would be able to build bridges of communication between the Health Ministry and such social service organizations. The charity committee, which started with sponsoring 100 orphans, now has 11 branches with 40,000 orphans receiving its sponsorship. The committee has launched the Insaan portal to link all its branches in the Riyadh province to ensure administrative efficiency. Its sponsorship services include giving financial assistance to single mothers. A mother is given three cards to cover the various expenses of a sponsored child. One of the cards enables the mother to claim SR 50 for each member of her family from Al-Rajhi Bank. The second card provides SR 150 for food for each member and the third enables the mother to claim SR 50 to buy clothes for each member. The total annual cost of these cards is estimated at SR 120 million. Insaan also allocates SR 1 million a month to rent out apartments to families. This is apart from SR 100,000 for each family for repairs in addition to paying out more than SR 1 million for furnishing and buying electrical devices for households each month. The annual expenditure on orphans’ education reached SR 10 million. Its educational programs included enrolling orphans in good private or public schools, sending school dropouts to professional institutes and girls to health institutes. Student orphans are also supplied with school kits every academic year. A total of 928 students are inmates of the Insaan branches spread throughout the Kingdom. The branches include hostels in places such as Rawdah, Al-Kharj, Dawadmi, Al Majma, Al-Zulfi and Wadi Dawasir. According to Director General of Insaan Saleh Yousef, the committee had spent SR 600 million over the past 10 years on the welfare of orphans.
