The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) called upon the international community, the international organizations and the civil society organizations to intensify their efforts in supporting the Republic of Yemen to contain the cholera epidemic, stop its spread and address the humanitarian and health situation, which has significantly deteriorated.
The OIC General Secretariat said in a statement Monday that Yemen is witnessing a significant increase in cholera cases, where the number of infections exceeded 23 thousand, while the number of deaths reached 242 in 18 provinces over the past few weeks.
The cases may reach 200 thousands over the next six months, which warns of a rapid outbreak of the epidemic.
