The King Abdulaziz University (KAU) Healthcare Center for Children’s Heart Diseases on Saturday signed a cooperation deal with the Abu-Ghazaleh Charitable Foundation to treat and perform open-heart surgeries on 50 needy children annually at the hospital.
In cooperation with the Sheikh Abdullah Bakhsh Center of Excellence in Healthcare, the agreement was signed between Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Shaheen Elahwal, the dean of the Tayeb Faculty at KAU and Ihsan Abu-Ghazalah, the director of the Abu-Ghazalah Charitable Foundation.
The surgeries will be done under the partnership between King Abdulaziz University Hospital and the private sector.
Abu-Gazalah said the aim of the agreement is to take advantage of the center‘s services and conduct surgeries for needy children, and support the treatment of the sick and needy with the help of the foundation’s programs.
Dr. Shaheen Elahwal said such partnerships with the private sector will contribute to the growth and development of all medical and research fields in general, and for needy heart patients in particular.
He praised the efforts and support of the university’s rector, Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahman Alyoubi.
