A field survey conducted by the Agriculture Ministry at poultry farms in the Jordan Valley concluded there were no cases of bird flu or other diseases.
The Ministry's Assistant Secretary General for Animal Resources Affairs Munthir Rifai said work is underway to conduct a survey at all poultry farms in the Kingdom after bird flu infections were reported in a number of neighboring countries.
Further, Rifai told Petra that the Ministry has a plan to combat the disease, in cooperation with the Health Ministry, noting that the Ministry is also cooperating with the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature to monitor migratory birds, collect samples and conduct tests at laboratories.
Bird flu, or avian influenza (AI), is an infectious viral disease striking birds, especially wild water fowl such as ducks and geese, as infected birds often display no apparent signs of illness, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO).
