Local fashion label JYK marked International Women’s Day by organising free health checks and distributing goodies and food items among 270 women workers at the labour camp of Berkeley’s Cleaning Company in Al Quoz.
The health check-ups, including blood pressure, BMI and blood sugar tests, were conducted in association with Prime Medical Centre. The initiative was also backed by Jani Vishwanath Jagtiani and Riddhi Siddhi General Trading, distributor of fast moving consumables in Dubai.
“Hundreds of women workers have left behind their families and live by themselves in the UAE so that they can support their loved ones back home. What better way to make them special than reach out to them on International Women’s Day,” said Juhi Yasmeen Khan of JYK.
Jani Vishwanath Jagtiani said she was happy to be part of the initiative. “It was heartening to see the smiles on the faces of women workers,” said Jagtiani
