Finnish flag carrier Finnair announced on Thursday that it is opening a new summer route to Chicago, the third largest city in the United States.
Finnair said that the new flight will be operated with Airbus A330 aircrafts three times a week on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays from June 13 to October 17 in 2015.
The scheduled flights to Chicago, one of the most important hubs for airlines in America, allow Finnair's customers' quick connections to destinations throughout the US, including San Francisco and Los Angeles.
Finnair will cooperate with British Airways, Iberia Airlines, American Airlines and American's merger partner US Airways to serve transatlantic traffic.
The joint business gives customers the possibility to mix and match flights on different carriers for the best pricing and scheduling, said Finniar.
In addition, due to the opening of the Chicago route, Finnair's seasonal summer service to Hanoi will be stopped.
Earlier this year Finnair announced several new destinations including Dublin, Athens, Split and many others in Europe, as well as Marmaris in Turkey and Paphos in Cyprus.
Founded in 1923, Finnair is the flag carrier of Finland with its headquarter in Vantaa and its main hub at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport.
