The Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, will continue delivering relief materials and medical supplies to the people of Yemen, who are enduring difficult times due to the war launched by the Houthi and Saleh militias, an Emirati aid official said.
Mohammed Saif Al Muhairi, Head of the ERC team in Shabwa, made the remarks while visiting the Ataq General Hospital in the governorate of Shabwa.
He said the UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is very keen on providing basic necessities to healthcare facilities in Shabwa.
Al Muhairi toured the hospital, which was built by Kuwait in the mid-70s. He inspected its different departments, including the ICU unit, which is currently serving victims of landmines laid by the militias in the Baihan district.
Dr. Rami Lamlas, Director-General of the Ataq Hospital, praised the support of the UAE in alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people. He noted that the hospital needs a total renovation, as well as modern medical equipment.
