Thousands of children and elderly people are to receive treatment free-of-charge in Africa through the Emirates Humanitarian Mobile Hospital.
The field hospital, which boasts well-equipped medical facilities and an elite team of healthcare professionals comprising specialist doctors, nurses, technicians and administrative staff, is part of the Zayed Giving Initiative. Thousands of children and elderly people have been diagnosed and treated by specialised medical teams since the year 2003 under the initiative.
The charity programme also aims to streamline and spread a culture of charity and volunteering, as well as highlight the pioneering role of the UAE on the world humanitarian stage with an annual programme targeting one million children and elderly patients in different governorates and remote villages in Tanzania, Mauritania and Morocco.
Dr. Adel Al Shamari, an Emirati cardiac surgeon, who leads the Zayed Giving Initiative and Emirati Doctors, said, "Hundreds of children and old people are expected to visit the mobile hospital, particularly following the resounding success previously achieved at more than 100 free medical camps which were set up in different regions of Africa."
The initiative is implemented in partnership with the Saudi German Hospital, the Dar Al Ber Society, and Emirati Doctors.
