Health Minister Ali Hiasat and Iraq's Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Minister of Health, Rekawt Karim, agreed to form a technical committee to assess the health status of KRG, with the help of delegations of Jordanian experts in the areas of health.
The agreement was reached during a meeting held on Monday, in the presence of senior officials from both sides, in which health cooperation between the two sides and ways of strengthening and developing it, were discussed.
The two sides stressed the depth of relations between Jordan and KRG, especially in the field of health, and their determination to strengthen and deepen cooperation.
Hiasat offered to put Jordan's health experience and capabilities at the service of the KRG, expressing his readiness to dispatch Jordanian experts in the field whenever needed by the KRG, as well as receiving delegations and training them in the areas they require.
He pointed to the government's plan to expand health insurance to include all citizens, noting that any uninsured citizen can get medical services in the ministry's hospitals, royal medical services and university hospitals.
The Kurdish minister praised the "solid and coherent" health system in Jordan, as well as the development of health services provided to citizens and medical care seekers in the Kingdom.
Karim said that Iraq's KRG is seeking to benefit from Jordan's experience and build a health system that replicates the Jordanian health system.
