The National Regulatory Authority for Health Professions and Services' CEO Dr. Baha El-Din Fatiha said that three new pharmaceuticals manufacturing firms will establish plants in Bahrain to produce 500 assorted medicines.
He told Al Ayam newspaper that the new companies are Malaysian, Indian and Gulf with Saudi capital investment.
"Bahrain imports from 50 pharmaceutical companies that have already obtained Gulf quality production certification," he said adding that "many international manufacturers have agents in Bahrain". Bahrain imports antibiotics and tablets for chronic diseases such as diabetes mellitus and hypertension, according to Dr. Fatiha.
