UAE-based satellite operator Yahsat said on Wednesday the company had entered into a strategic partnership with Talia, a market-leading teleport, satellite and terrestrial network operator.
Under the agreement, Talia is committed to capacity on Yahsat’s upcoming Ka-band Al Yah 3 satellite, located at 20 degree W, to be launched in 2017, alongside existing services on the Y1B satellite.
The arrangement will provide Talia’s customers in the Middle East and Africa with a tightly integrated offering and a tailor-made solution to fit the changing demands.
Talia has also signed its first customer on Yahsat’s Y1B satellite. The NGO customer will utilise the high bandwidth service with Newtec MDM6000 Satellite IP Modems and integrate the additional capacity with its hybrid network. This includes coverage across multiple satellites and terrestrial fibre - all provided by Talia.
The addition of Ka-band HTS satellite services to Talia's portfolio re-affirms its position as a market leader, providing hybrid solutions through appropriate technology driven by customer demand.
"The addition of Yahsat to our coverage builds on our strong and growing relationship with satellite operators. This further extends our infrastructure and network operations, enabling the delivery of protected and secure communications to our strategic customers," said Alan Afrasiab, President of Talia.
"We are delighted to be partnering with Talia as a long-term client. This agreement is yet another example of Yahsat’s growth strategy, which will be further enabled by the launch of our third satellite, adding 20 new markets to our existing footprint. We are thrilled that Talia believes in our cutting-edge technology solutions, the team’s capabilities and our commitment to the delivery of customised, bespoke services," said Farhad Khan, Yahsat’s Chief Commercial Officer.
As part of the agreement, Talia will have access to Yahsat’s latest VNO services, powered by its satellite broadband service YahClick from the Y1B satellite. Commenting on this, Khan said, "Having full control and management over its own capacity would deliver flexibility while providing Talia with high-speed and economical Ka-band capacity. In addition, the company will be supported by our high-level technical team to offer far-reaching broadband coverage across the Middle East and Africa."
The benefits of YahClick’s VNO services are expansive and will enable Talia to leverage high-speed and economical capacity of YahClick’s network besides having full control and management of its allotted capacity. Talia can also commission, control and monitor its remote sites while designing and configuring its end-to-end IP network.
