Deputy Premier and Finance Minister Sheikh Salem Abdulaziz Al-Sabah will represent His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to the 9th World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF), due to be held in London on October 29-31 with the theme "Changing World, New Relationships." The WIEF is due to be attended by high ranking officials like British Prime Minister David Cameron, Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak, Finance and Economy Ministers, as well as representatives of commercial and investment institutions from 100 countries. Speaking to KUNA Sunday, Sheikh Salem said his participation in the forum was part of His Highness the Amir's keenness to boosting role of Kuwait in international meetings, exchange of expertise, strengthening of economic, cultural and political relations, in addition to cementing UN-related partnership to contribute to addressing pressing problems. The forum, added Sheikh Salem, "is an exceptional opportunity" to bolstering bonds between money markets in the West and Islamic countries, promoting cooperation between the two sides in economic and technology domains, and to benefit from economic reforms experiences. Sheikh Salem hoped the WIEF would have "practical results" that would tackle financial crises witnessed by countries with one financial resource. The WIEF was held the first time in Malaysia in 2004. Kuwait hosted the 4th forum on April 29 2008.
