H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, visited the Sharjah Police General Command’s pavilion at the 36th edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair, which started today at the Expo Centre Sharjah.

He was received by Brigadier Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, and several senior officers.

He was briefed about the books and publications displayed at the pavilion, while Brigadier Al Shamsi offered him a copy of the publication by the Punitive and Correctional Establishment in Sharjah titled 'Take lessons from my story', which included 36 true stories about the inmates in the institution.

The Sharjah Police pavilion displayed 50 publications, including 10 new publications of the Sharjah Police Research Centre, in addition to the publications of the Media and Public Relations Department of the Sharjah Police.

Among the most prominent titles being displayed at the pavilion was a group of studies about future foresight, including a book titled 'The studies on future foresight and their role in supporting decision-making in the UAE', a study about the 'Foresight and security prediction of the Emirate of Sharjah during the upcoming three decades from 2016–2045', a study of 'The philosophy of criminalising and punishment for the Emirati legislator in light of the provisions of the Decree Law No. 7 for 2016', and a study titled 'The contributions of Social Media Platforms in strengthening security and combating crime'.

The Sharjah Police pavilion had many visitors on the first day. They expressed their admiration at the pavilion’s design, which was inspired by the old Sharjah Fortress building, considering it was the first headquarters of the Sharjah Police, established in 1967. The books, titles and studies on display drew the attention of several visitors, especially legal scholars, students of law colleges and researchers in the police and security fields, as well as those interested in security and social studies.

Brigadier Al Shamsi expressed his gratitude and appreciation to H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, for his efforts to give the Sharjah Police and the social service departments in Sharjah the opportunity to participate in the Sharjah International Book Fair, through his constant support to all the government institutions and departments and the Sharjah Police, and by encouraging books, reading, knowledge and cultural development among the workers in all the government facilities and the members of the Sharjah Police, which had great effect in the success of the activities for the Year of Reading, which was launched by the wise leadership last year.
