Saudi King Salman bin Abdel Aziz arrived Thursday in Washington in an official visit to the United States.
King Salman will hold a historic summit with US President Barack Obama on Friday.
In remarks to reporters in Washington Thursday, Saudi Foreign Minister Adel bin Ahmed Al Jubeir said that the historical visit paid by King Salman comes within the framework of the distinguished and strong relations binding the two countries.
The visit will tackle the strategic relations with the United States and developing them to a new horizon to help serve the interests of the two peoples and the two countries as well as security and stability in the region, he said.
Commenting on the situation in Yemen, Jubeir called for applying the UN Security Council resolution no. 2216 in full without conditions through diplomatic channels or political work.
The Houthi group and pro-former president supporters refuse to accept this decision, and continue their military operations and attempts to occupy more towns and villages of Yemen, he said.
He said that the coalition forces and the legitimate government, however, have been able to respond to these moves, and achieve very important victories in various parts of Yemen.
