Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al-Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty King Hamad and Supreme Council for Women President, today received at the SCW headquarters, Cherie Blair Foundation for Women (CBFW) founder Cherie Blair. HRH Princess Sabeeka welcomed Ms. Blair, who gave a brief idea about her foundation, and discussed cooperation in women's economic empowerment and legal fields. Ms. Blair expressed thanks and appreciation to HRH Princess Sabeeka for supporting women-oriented programmes, particularly economic and legal empowerment. She also credited HRH Bahrain's First Lady for contributing to Bahraini women's progress and landmark achievements in all fields. The CBFW charity was set up in September 2008 in response to Cherie’s experiences meeting women around the world and the realisation that, with the right support, women can overcome the challenges they face and play an important part in the economies and societies in which they work and live. The establishment invests in women entrepreneurs so they can build and expand their businesses - and in doing so benefit not only themselves but also their families and communities.
